HEINRICO, Va. — John Reid, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor renewed his public challenge to opponent Senator Ghazala Hashmi today, highlighting her continued refusal to commit to a single debate in a new piece on his new Substack, The Reid Revolution.
“What is she afraid of? The questions, the cameras, or the contrast?” Reid said. “If she thinks her record stands up to public scrutiny, she should have no problem defending it in front of the people she wants to represent. If Senator Hashmi won’t show up, I will. I’m ready whenever, wherever. Let’s give Virginians the debate they deserve.”
Reid first challenged Hashmi to debate on June 25, 2025. Since then, he has released detailed plans on education, childcare, and workforce reform. Hashmi, meanwhile, has refused to respond. John called out her lack of debate commitment based on her record.
“She’s voted to force businesses to report their DEI stats, repeal Right to Work, and dump tax dollars into climate schemes. But she won’t agree to a public debate?” Reid continued. “That says a lot.”
