North Chesterfield, VA — Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor John Reid held a press availability yesterday outside Falling Creek Middle School, calling attention to years of underperformance in Chesterfield County schools and the failed leadership of Democratic nominee Senator Ghazala Hashmi.
“Senator Hashmi has had years to improve outcomes for students in her own backyard — and she’s failed,” Reid said. “Falling Creek is just one example of what happens when politicians talk about equity but don’t deliver results.”
Falling Creek Middle School has struggled with accreditation and achievement benchmarks for years — even as Senator Hashmi chaired the Senate Education and Health Committee. The school remains one of the most underperforming in the district, despite increased funding and repeated promises from Richmond.
“This isn’t just a policy failure — it’s personal,” Reid added. “Senator Hashmi built her political brand on education, but schools like Falling Creek have been left behind. Virginia’s families deserve better.”
John Reid has centered his campaign on service, results, and restoring trust. His education agenda includes raising standards, empowering parents, and ensuring every child — regardless of zip code — has access to a high-quality education.
